A Passage to India

Adela Quested visits Chandrapore in colonial India with Mrs Moore to decide whether to marry Mrs Moore's son, Ronny Heaslop. Obsessed with understanding the 'real India', the two women make friends with Dr Aziz, who invites them to visit the renowned and mysterious Marabar Caves... What happened in the caves? Should the British rule India? Can an Indian be friends with an Englishman? These questions are all central to Forster's brilliant last novel.
