Digital markets claims and third party litigation funding

The digital economy has transformed markets on an unprecedented scale, while concentrating extraordinary economic power in the hands of a small number of global platforms. When infringements of competition law affect millions of consumers and businesses operating within these digital ecosystems, ensuring effective compensation for those harmed and meaningful accountability for those responsible becomes one of the central challenges of modern competition law. This volume offers a timely and comprehensive analysis of the most significant issues surrounding the private enforcement of competition law in Europe. Drawing on the contributions presented at the V and VI Valencia International Meeting on Competition Law and the Consumer Protection: Class Actions and Litigation Funding Congress, it examines collective redress mechanisms, third-party litigation funding, claim aggregation, the impact of the Digital Markets Act, and the growing wave of competition litigation involving major technology companies such as Google, Apple, Amazon and Meta. The book also analyses the most recent case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union, combining doctrinal analysis with practical insights to provide an essential reference for academics, practitioners and policymakers seeking to understand the rapidly evolving landscape of competition damages litigation in digital markets.
